Every Al Tahooneh chicken is raised on a 100% vegetable and grain diet, with no animal by-products and no animal fats. It is one sentence, but it describes a specific way of feeding poultry. Here is what it means in practice.
What a plant-based poultry diet is made of
Poultry feed is built around two things: an energy source and a protein source. At Al Tahooneh both are plant-derived. Yellow corn supplies the energy, and soybean meal supplies the protein.
On top of that base, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and nutritional supplements are blended in. These are sourced from suppliers working to international standards and high-quality specifications. Nothing in the mix comes from an animal.
What “no animal by-products” rules out
Poultry feed formulations across the industry sometimes include processed animal proteins and rendered animal fats, because they are inexpensive sources of protein and energy. A 100% vegetable and grain diet excludes both categories entirely.
That is the substance of the claim. It is not a description of flavour or a marketing style — it is a statement about what is and is not permitted in the formulation.
The feed is free from antibiotics too
The feed produced in the Al Tahooneh feed factories is also free from antibiotics. Combined with the plant-only formulation, that keeps the diet limited to grain, plant protein and nutritional supplements from the first day through to market weight.
The diet changes as the bird grows
Feed is not a single recipe applied to every bird. Ingredients are mixed according to the age category of the birds receiving them, so a day-old chick and a bird approaching market weight are not eating the same blend.
Why it matters that Al Tahooneh mills its own feed
A producer that buys feed in is relying on someone else to honour the formulation. Al Tahooneh operates three feed factories with a combined capacity of 40 tons per hour, a premix factory, and a soybean processing plant, supplied from its own grain silos holding more than 100,000 tons of yellow corn, soybeans, soybean meal and premixes.
Because the company runs the whole chain — breeder farms, hatcheries, feed factories, broiler farms — what the birds eat is decided and made in house rather than bought from a third party.
How the diet is verified
Every batch of feed is analysed for protein, starch, moisture, ash and energy using a Near-Infrared Spectroscopy device before it is distributed to the farms, and it undergoes steam and heat treatment. The testing is done in the Al Tahooneh central laboratory, which has a dedicated feed analysis department.
